Cookie Policy

Last updated: 25 August 2026

This cookie policy explains how EndMile uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit endmilerouting.co.uk, app.endmilerouting.co.uk, and guide.endmilerouting.co.uk. It covers what they are, why we use them, and how you can control them. Guide-specific consent choices, analytics, and advertising preferences are managed directly via the Guide cookie policy.

For broader information about how we handle your personal data, please see our Privacy Notice.

What are cookies and local storage?

Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device to store information. They help websites remember your preferences and understand how you use the service.

Local storage is a similar browser technology that allows websites to store data on your device. Unlike cookies, local storage data does not expire automatically and is not sent to servers with every request. We use local storage to remember your preferences and consent choices.

Cookies we use

The website and web app use separate, consent-gated analytics services. endmilerouting.co.uk uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4), while app.endmilerouting.co.uk uses PostHog. Neither service loads or collects usage events on its domain until you accept analytics there.

Name Type Purpose Duration Set when
ph_*_posthog First-party, analytics Stores a unique anonymous identifier so PostHog can distinguish returning visitors from new ones and associate page views within a session 1 year Only after you accept analytics on the app
_ga, _ga_* First-party, analytics Used by Google Analytics to distinguish visitors and maintain session state 2 years Only after you accept analytics on the website

The GA4 cookies use the website's measurement ID G-PGW1XFLBPK. Rejection keeps the GA4 script completely unloaded and prevents website page-view and CTA events from being sent.

On the domains covered by this policy, we do not use any third-party advertising or social media tracking cookies. This statement does not apply to the consumer Guide.

Local storage we use

The following data is stored in browser local storage. Storage is isolated by domain, so the website and app cannot read each other's choices.

Key Purpose Duration
endmile_landing_cookie_consent Stores the policy version, website analytics choice, and choice date Until you revise it, clear website data, or a new policy version makes it obsolete
endmile_cookie_consent Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies Until you clear your browser data
endmile_analytics_opt_out Remembers if you opted out of analytics via app settings Until you clear your browser data
Theme preference Remembers your light or dark mode choice Until you clear your browser data
Saved routes Stores routes you have saved for quick access (maximum 50) Until you delete them or clear your browser data
Mode preferences Remembers your preferred transport modes Until you clear your browser data
Recent searches Stores your recent journey searches for convenience (maximum 10) 90 days, then automatically cleared

Third-party connections

The website self-hosts its fonts. After website analytics consent, GA4 connects to Google's servers and may receive online identifiers, page and CTA activity, IP-derived approximate location, device/browser information and referrer information. For details, see Google's Privacy Policy.

The app's analytics provider, PostHog, is hosted in the EU (Frankfurt, Germany). When app analytics are enabled, usage events are sent to PostHog's EU servers.

Cookie categories

Strictly necessary

The website's endmile_landing_cookie_consent key and the app's endmile_cookie_consent key are required to remember the choices requested on each domain. No optional analytics is loaded by these keys.

Analytics (consent required)

GA4 cookies on the website and the PostHog cookie (ph_*_posthog) on the app are non-essential. Each is used only after you consent on the relevant domain. You can withdraw either choice at any time.

Advertising and marketing

We do not use any advertising, marketing, or social media tracking cookies. None are set at any time.

How to control cookies

Cookie consent banner

When you first visit either domain, its banner asks whether you accept analytics. On this website you can accept, reject, or manage cookies. Analytics defaults to off, and rejecting it keeps GA4 unloaded.

App settings

On this website, choose to revise or withdraw consent without clearing browser data. In the app, use the "Usage analytics" toggle in profile settings to update the separate PostHog preference.

Resetting your choice

Clearing local storage for a domain also clears the choice saved on that domain, so its banner will appear again on your next visit. A material policy-version change will also cause the website to ask again.

Browser controls

Most browsers let you control cookies through their settings. You can block or delete cookies at the browser level. Note that blocking all cookies may affect the functionality of some websites, though EndMile's core journey planning features work without cookies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this cookie policy from time to time, for example if we add new features that use additional cookies. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. If we make material changes, we will update the cookie consent banner to collect a fresh consent choice.
